چکیده

Sulla (Hedysarum coronarium L.) is a new candidate crop for biofuel production. A field trial was conducted in 2018–2020 Pyrgos, Greece, and repeated 2019–2021 to evaluate different row spacings cover crops weed management sulla two-factor randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications. Four spacings, namely 76-cm, 51-cm, 38-cm, 19-cm, were assigned the main plots. Three crops, farro wheat (Triticum turgidum subsp. dicoccum (Schrank ex Schübler) Thell.), common vetch (Vicia sativa L.), white mustard (Sinapis alba an untreated control, subplots. In first year of growth, biomass, stem, total dry matter yield (DMY) affected by growing cycles (p-value ? 0.05). The 19- 38-cm resulted lowest biomass highest stem DMY growth. White most weed-suppressive both years followed heat. observed subplots years. combination 38 cm spacing as cumulative two-year (18.9 t ha?1). Further case studies are needed more cultural practices other major under soil climatic conditions.

Effects of feeding green forage of sulla (Hedysarum coronarium L.) on lamb growth and carcass and meat quality.

The nutritional effects of sulla (Hedysarum coronarium L.) forage containing condensed tannins (CT) on growth of lambs, and carcass and meat quality were investigated. Thirty-two male Comisana lambs aged 100 ± 8 days weighing 19.0 ± 2.8 kg were fed fresh forage of sulla or CT-free annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam. subsp. Wersterwoldicum) for 49 days until slaughter; in addition, each lam...

Composition of sulla (Hedysarum coronarium L.) honey solvent extractives determined by GC/MS: norisoprenoids and other volatile organic compounds.

Samples of unifloral sulla (Hedysarum coronarum L.) honey from Sardinia (Italy) were analysed. To investigate the chemical composition of the honey volatiles two solvent systems were used for ultrasonic solvent extraction (USE): 1) a 1:2 (v/v) pentane and diethyl ether mixture and 2) dichloromethane. All the extracts were analysed by GC and GC/MS. These procedures have permitted the identificat...

Effects of Sulla forage (Sulla coronarium L.) on the oxidative status and milk polyphenol content in goats.

Twelve milking Girgentana goats were allocated into 3 groups and fed 3 diets ad libitum in a 3×3 Latin square design with 3 periods. The diets were Sulla fresh forage ad libitum (SUL), Sulla fresh forage ad libitum and 800g/d of barley meal (SULB), and mixed hay ad libitum and 800g/d of barley meal (HB). Changes were observed in total polyphenol intake, plasma oxidative status, plasma polypheno...

Manipulating Crop Row Orientation to Suppress Weeds and Increase Crop Yield

Crop rows oriented at a right angle to sunlight direction (i.e., east–west within the winter cropping system in Western Australia) may suppress weed growth through greater shading of weeds in the interrow spaces. This was investigated in the districts of Merredin and Beverley, Western Australian (latitudes of 31u and 32uS) from 2002 to 2005 (four trials). Winter grain crops (wheat, barley, cano...
